Nothing to exciting recently; I’ve made friends with a lot of toddlers. The kitchen manager at the house gashed her leg open today so I’m in charge of lunch tomorrow. Yep! For 13 pregnant ladies, six toddlers, 1 10 yr old, and staff.

Our Lady’s Inn: Days 1-2
I will be at Our Lady’s Inn (a home in St. Charles County for pregnant, homeless women and their children) this and next week.
I had a short orientation yesterday and learned how the house works. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the staff and the residents. I helped out in the office and kitchen.
Today, I played with some of the kids and did odd jobs. It sounds boring but I’m always busy and love that everything I do is directly helping the mothers I’ve met.
Senior Project: First Days
For the last few days, I have been working with Mrs. Fu at school. This is my last day here until the end of the month. I have been generating Geometry worksheets for her and recording all of them in a large excel spreadsheet. Hopefully, we can turn this spreadsheet into a program that will help her locate specific worksheets quickly and easily.
Project Plan
In college, I am planning on pursuing a bachelors of science in nursing. I spent a lot of time during the previous two years shadowing/volunteering at Missouri Baptist, Mercy, and St. Luke’s hospitals. Due to restrictions, I am not able to do much while volunteering at these places (and have already done as much as allowed). For this reason, I have mostly focused on other interests (that should still help me in the nursing field) to pursue during my senior project.
I will spend my time at four different locations. I will be with Mrs. Fu while at school—helping with math classes in the mornings and curriculum in the afternoons. I will then spend two weeks at Our Lady’s Inn helping homeless women that are or have recently been pregnant. I will spend time with the children at Crisis Nursery North for one week, and finish up by shadowing nurses on various units at Missouri Baptist Medical Center.
