texas

So far this week has been super fun. My aunt and uncle live in a largely Spanish-speaking neighborhood, and everyone here seems to know everyone else. It’s really cool, kind of like in Casa En Mango Street. I’ve been learning a lot about the culture and I’m really enjoying it.

    1. I mean as far as being in a place where the stores and signs and everything is in Spanish, yeah! We went to La Pulga (a flea market) and there were plenty of moments like in the book when Esperanza and her sister are in that old man’s antique shop and they find treasures underneath all the old dusty stuff.
