Grace’s Senior Project

My senior project is at three different animal sanctuaries. The first two weeks will be at the World Bird sanctuary. I will spend time at the different areas in their facilities learning about their birds and bird care. The second two weeks will be at the Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary. I will be staying at their internship housing and learning about running a non-profit and how they care for their tigers. The last place will be the Endangered Wolf Center, working with the wolf and fox species, helping prepare their diets and doing other things that need to be done for the animal care.

Brigette’s Senior Project

For my Senior Project I will be participating in a program and volunteering at a nursing home.

A Step Further Into the Realms of Medicine & the Deceased

As most of you know, I am interested in becoming a medical examiner in the future, so I want to do things related to both aspects of the job: the deceased and the medical realm, hence the title. I will be going to three major sites. The first site I will be going to is in a small town called Mountain View, AR. It is Stone County Medical Center, where my grandfather works, who is an anesthesiologist. He and Dr. Charles Varela have agreed to let me shadow surgeries. This will be for a week. Then, I will be going to Logan University in order to shadow there as well as complete tasks like taking muscle off bone. This will be for a few weeks. I will then go to Oltmann Funeral home in order to shadow the funeral director/embalmer there. This will be for a week, and then I will return to Logan and do more work there. I am looking forward to it.

Ruthie is Confused (but it’s ok)

Dr. Urbano was not very clear in saying we needed to do this but hello. For the first week of my senior project I will be going to Atlanta, Georgia. While there I will be working with straycatstrutatl to learn more about the movie industry. Things I will be doing include; making a bald cap, working with prosthetics, designing clothes, and talking with movie makeup artists. For the rest of the weeks I will be working at Hillermann’s Nursery and Florist in the greenhouse, working with plants and customers.

Elena’s Senior Project Information

For my Senior Project, I will be shadowing at six locations: Cliffedge Marketing, Dardenne Prairie City Hall, Elasticity, Larry Hughes Basketball Academy, Entercom, and Higher Focus Photography. The main focus of my Senior Project will be interacting with professionals in the field of marketing. While not all of the sites are marketing businesses, each site has marketing within them. I will be shadowing those who work in the business at each location and observing what their daily routine entails.

The goals for my Senior Project are: to get out of the classroom and into the real world for a change, to experience different types of marketing at a variety of locations, to get a feel for the size of each location, to get connected with people in my future career pool, and to learn from people who are doing the job I aspire to do.

My Senior Project

For my project, I will be shadowing people from different medical fields and a Barrister at a law firm.

Carter’s Senior Project

So Saturday John gave me an update where he said he was talking with Schnucks corporate to find me an internship there because he doesn’t want me to personally talk with someone of higher status which I respect and I am grateful for all the work he is doing to get me a few days with corporate even though internships are usually done with collage students.

The next thing is Core my dad said he had a co-worker who could dump a boat load of information on me if I was interested in learning about business or accounting or something in that area. I would like to say that if I did that I would not be working with my dad I would be working with his co-worker.

I’ll try and keep you guys updated on what I am going to do next and on my senior project.

My Senior Project

For my senior project, I’ll be going to two different schools (Chesterfield Day School and Community School) and helping the teachers supervise the students.

TREE House of Greater St.Louis (week two)

My second week at TREE House, I learned a lot about the actual therapy that they do. I learned how and why they use horses to conduct therapy on people. (I’ll save the interesting facts for my presentation) I also learned how I can help, as a side-walker, to make sure that the therapy is getting done right. Side-Walking is when you, as a volunteer, walk on the side of the horse and hold on to the child or adult to make sure that they are safe and using the right muscles in their body to hold them up. It was definitely the highlight of my entire shadowing experience. I got to work with so many different people who were riding and using therapy for all different reasons. There were people who used it for mental illness, behavior, empathy, concentration, focus, to strengthen their proprioception and vestibular senses, and to use the horse for physical therapy. It was really eye-opening to see the range of differences the horse can strengthen.
