Week 4 Cardinals

This week, I am shadowing Mike Whittle, General Counsel for the St. Louis Cardinals. On the first day, he gave me a brief tour of Busch Stadium, where I had the opportunity to see both the stadium operations team and the security team in action. We then went to the office area, where he showed me around. I got to see the offices of the President of Baseball Operations, John Mozeliak, as well as the team owners.

It hasn’t been too busy so far, but I’ve been able to sit in on a few meetings. One was about a credit agreement with Bank of America, and another was a call with John Mozeliak discussing a new system being implemented to help players track their stats more effectively.

I’ve been learning a lot about the legal side of running a Major League Baseball organization. On Friday, the team returns home, and I’ve been told the schedule changes significantly when the team is in town, so I’m looking forward to observing how things operate on a game day.
